These settings affect the offline address book download.I might have a problem with my Offline Address Book in Outlook. Now, if you are like most organisations then outlook will be operating in cached mode.So log in to OWA and test if you can see the new users there. New users don’t show up in the GAL for clients using Outlook 2003 Cached Mode clients, because Outlook uses an Offline Address List (aka “Offline Address Book” or OAB), which is generated once every 24 hours by default [read previous post “New user does not show up in GAL“] In this case there are who did show up in the GAL earlier but have disappeared now.
Alternatively you can increate logging on the MSEXCHANGESA\OAL Generator to see if the new address book generated successfully. Give the OAB a name, select a generation server (in case of a CCR this needs to be the active node) 5. When presented with the distribution points page enable the web base distribution and, in case of outlook 2003 clients, enable the public folder distribution. Once the wizard has completed, right click the new OAB and select to generate the OAB. Now drill down to the mailbox database, right click it and set the new OAB to be the default for that database. Open outlook with a mailbox that is residing in that mailbox database 10.
Note: To locate this option, follow these steps: On the Tools menu, point to Send/Receive, point to Send/Receive Settings, and then click Define Send/Receive Groups. When you click to select the Download offline address book check box and then click Address Book Settings, the Offline Address Book dialog box appears.
In this dialog box, you can specify either No Details or Full Details.
A status window will open to indicate that the download is in progress and will close automatically when the download is complete.
(This could take several minutes) Step 2: Uncheck the box next to Download changes since last Send/Receive.
I’m giving it a 99% chance that you will (and if you don’t you have a serious problem at hand!
