When you unimplement Update Event of grid and if you allow grid to editing from settings, it shows the Edit Form, but when you fire update button at this state, it shows a cool Error Message like "Specified method is not supported".. This row is automatically displayed below the Edit Form if the Row Error property is set to a not empty string.
I want to write some custom message in the same place of that message. Please, also take a look at the Grid Editing/Validation demo module and ASPx Grid View documentation.
When a new record is added within a grid, the calculated column's value can be accessed only after this record has been saved to the data source.
So, you can use the Row Updated event to access this value.
To save the focused row to the data source, the Update Current Row method can be used.
By default, if an exception is raised within a Row Updated event handler, it is silently swallowed by the grid control. Catch Row Updated Exceptions static property to false on the application startup.
Please check the following demo for more detailed information: Grid View Demos/Grid Editing/Thanks Kate. It helped and the issue was resolved when I used the Row Validating event handler instead of the Row Updating event. Also, I have a gridlookup control and I try to set the text inside the editor using the ' Text' property but the editor shows no text.
event is raised when a row's Update button is clicked, but before the Grid View control updates the row.
